The Marks family’s roots run deep in Montana soil. Since the 1890s, the 6,800-acre Marks Ranch in Clancy has been a symbol of dedication to the land and community. Tanner’s great-great-grandfather, Ernest Marks, established this legacy, which has been nurtured through generations. From Ernest’s draft horse operations to Merle Marks’ blacksmithing and lumber milling, and Bob Marks’ contributions to state leadership and community development, the Marks family has consistently exemplified commitment and resilience.

In 2025, Tanner took a bold step by acquiring the lawn care division of Nitro Green, a respected Helena-based company known for its comprehensive services, including lawn fertilization, weed control, and pest management . Rebranding it as Marks Mowing, Tanner aims to infuse the business with the same values that have guided his family for over a century.
